Founding Partner

T. 925.330.0526

Alezah’s interest in employment law, love of writing, and passion for helping others align in her role as an investigator and, more recently, a hearing officer. She found that the process of balanced an impartial decision-making and working toward a fair outcome for all involved is the perfect fit for her. She appreciates the opportunity this area of law offers to approach situations with an open mind and lead with empathy and compassion.

As a partner at OIG, Alezah has found also fulfillment in a secondary passion: mentoring new associates at the firm. Alezah has channeled her years of experience conducting workplace investigations into an onboarding program for new OIG employees, in-office investigations trainings, and supervising OIG’s more junior attorneys. Alezah has also conducted investigations trainings externally, for the State of California and through the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI).

Experience

Alezah has led or assisted in more than 200 workplace investigations since joining the firm in 2014. These have included allegations of sexual harassment, sexual assault, discrimination, ethical violations, workplace bullying, and retaliation.

Alezah has worked with public entities, private entities, and nonprofits. Her investigations have involved employees, management, and employee organizations, and have included agency-wide investigations and environmental assessments. She has investigated allegations against high-level executives, elected officials, and high-profile individuals in the entertainment industry.

Alezah also conducts Title IX investigations for educational institutions. These have included investigations in schools at all levels of education, from grade schools to universities, at both public and private institutions. She has investigated complaints in athletic departments, Greek life organizations, and between faculty members. In addition to her work as an investigator, Alezah has served as a university Hearing Officer since 2022. In this role, she applies the fact-finding and analytical skills, as well as empathy, compassion, and impartiality, she has developed through her investigations practice in order to adjudicate disputes among university students, staff, and faculty.

Alezah graduated from the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI) Training Institute for Workplace Investigators. She is an AWI Certificate Holder (AWI-CH) and serves as Junior Faculty for the Institute. She has also received training certificates from the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA) and T9 Mastered to conduct Title IX investigations.

Outside the Office

Alezah is a Bay Area native and avid hiker, camper, and backpacker. You will often find her hiking Mount Diablo or the East Bay Regional Parks or camping on the coast or in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Alezah also enjoys all things spine-chilling, including horror movies, murder mystery novels, and true crime podcasts.

“Choosing to be curious is choosing to be vulnerable because it requires us to surender to uncertainty. We have to ask questions, admit to not knowing, risk being told that we shouldn’t be asking, and, sometimes, make discoveries that lead to discomfort.” ― Brené Brown
