Oppenheimer Investigations Group (OIG) is pleased to announce that attorney Maria Walker has been appointed co-chair of the Women Lawyers of Sacramento’s (WLS) Publicity and Community Relations Committee.
“WLS has tapped an excellent resource in Maria for this role. She has the ability to process, distill and communicate complicated workplace issues and is a champion for removing bias in workplace environments – qualities that align well with WLS’s mission, as well as OIG’s,” said Vida Thomas, managing partner of OIG. “The overall legal profession, including future generations of attorneys, will greatly benefit from her contributions, perspective and leadership. I look forward to everything she’ll accomplish in this new role.”
Founded in 1962, WLS endeavors to support and enhance the participation and representation of women in significant leadership and management positions in the legal profession. The organization also strives to eliminate all forms of bias, discrimination and harassment, including violence against women and children, and supports diversity in the legal profession, in legal education and in society generally. The Publicity and Community Relations committee is tasked with communicating news regarding the WLS and its developments and to organize and participate in activities benefiting the local community.
Maria, an AWI Certificate Holder (AWI-CH), concentrates on promoting safer and more equitable workplace environments. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she performs thorough, neutral workplace investigations, as well as climate surveys and assessments. She also authors articles to educate others on related issues, including investigating allegations of abusive conduct in the workplace and best practices when conducting investigations in a second language.
