Oppenheimer Investigations Group (OIG) is pleased to announce the elevation of Ilona Turner to Partner.

Ilona is a multifaceted neutral with extensive experience conducting impartial workplace and Title IX investigations, coaching, training and mediation and conflict resolution across a variety of industries. Her comprehensive approach to addressing conflicts and creating healthy, safe environments has made her a highly valued resource to public and private organizations, including notable technology companies, nonprofits and government agencies. In addition to her neutral investigations and conflicts resolution work, Ilona educates a wide array of audiences on relevant topics (many of which are DEI-related), such as best practices to repair and enhance workplace culture, mediating across differences, addressing gendered slurs. She has also delivered in-depth analysis to inform industry peers on competing federal and state equal pay laws and competing standards in mixed-motive cases.
Ilona’s legal career involves nearly two decades handling labor and employment and Title IX matters, including litigating civil rights cases. Prior to joining OIG, she served as the legal director for the national Transgender Law Center and was a staff attorney at the National Center for Lesbian Rights. She also worked for the California State Assembly and as a lobbyist for Equality California. She authored numerous articles and book chapters on sex discrimination and LGBT legal issues and teaches a class on Law and Sexuality at the University of California, Berkeley.
Ilona is based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She holds AWI-CH distinction from the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI), where she currently sits on the editorial board for the organization’s peer-reviewed journal, AWI Journal. She also serves on the mediation panels for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing, holds leadership positions with the Bar Association of San Francisco’s Labor and Employment Section and the Equality Committee on LGBT Issues, and she serves on the California Law Review’s alumni board of directors. Additional involvements include the American Bar Association’s Section of Dispute Resolution and Bay Area Lawyers for Individual Freedom (BALIF). She earned her J.D. from University of California, Berkeley School of Law, and her B.A., with honors, from University of California, Santa Cruz.
