Oppenheimer Investigations Group LLP (OIG) announces the addition of Erik Roper to the firm as an attorney investigator.
“OIG is moving into a new chapter and that means being strategic about how we maximize value for our clients. There have been increasing requests for our neutral services, and we continue to be a go-to resource for workplace investigations,” said OIG Managing Partner Vida Thomas. “Erik’s addition builds on the firm’s strengths, boosting the quality of an already exceptional team. His unique background and thoughtful insights are assets that benefit both OIG and our clients. We’re glad to have him onboard.”
Erik focuses on conducting fair, thorough, and impartial workplace investigations to support organizations’ ability to maintain healthy, productive work environments and avoid lawsuit disruptions. His legal expertise includes handling a wide variety of employment law matters, primarily those involving claims of discrimination against protected classes, whistleblower retaliation, wrongful termination and defamation. Before joining OIG, Erik counseled and represented plaintiffs in employment lawsuits, and he also spent time enforcing the federal Clean Water Act as an environmental attorney. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Erik served in the U.S. Army as a financial specialist. He deployed to Bosnia (1997-1998) and Kosovo (1999-2000).
Erik has been recognized as both a Rising Star (2015-2017) and a top Employment & Labor attorney (2018-2020) by Northern California Super Lawyers, a Thompson Reuters rating service and publication that lists outstanding lawyers, for five consecutive years. He is a member of the Association of Workplace Investigators and the Sacramento County Bar Association. Erik earned his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law and his B.A. from the California State University, San Marcos.
