OIG Partner Amy Oppenheimer will co-present the session “Managing Workplace Misconduct Investigations in the School Environment” during the National Business Officers Association Annual Conference to be held February 19-22, 2023 in Los Angeles, California.
Session Description:
Recently, complaints of workplace misconduct in independent schools have proliferated. Many are new allegations involving employee-to-employee or employee-to-student conduct. Others go many years back. Some are anonymous. All must be responded to — even when allegations are decades old. Successfully managing and investigating these complaints is critical to protecting a school from liability, withstanding public scrutiny, and restoring trust within the community. This can be a formidable task, especially while navigating calls for transparency, coordination with law enforcement, community gossip and social media. This session will cover legal considerations and best practices in responding to these complaints.
