A prompt, fair, and thorough investigation should enable an employer to meaningfully address conflict between the parties involved and help them repair their work relationship…but this is not always the case.
Sometimes a conflict between employees doesn’t require a formal investigation, and an employer might consider other conflict resolution measures to address the problem, such as mediation. Conflict tools like mediation, coaching, or communication training can also be helpful to repair and enhance the workplace culture after an investigation if there are lingering tensions.
On Wednesday, November 14, 2023, OIG attorneys Zaneta Seidel and Ilona Turner will co-present a session entitled “Beyond Investigations: Repairing and Enhancing Workplace Culture With Conflict Resolution Tools” during the 2023 Annual Conference of the California Public Employers Labor Relations Association (CALPELRA).
